The events of 2001 fueled a "boom" in the security world, and the space rapidly filled with newcomers. The founders of Prometheus Global began to see that the majority of "security practitioners" fell into one of two categories: policy shops or technical shops. Unable to reconcile a separation between policy and technical approaches to security, they decided to forge a new practice which unified all of the important elements in security into one company. In 2002,  Prometheus Global was born.

In 2008, in order to reflect the expansion of the company's service offerings globally, and to offer a broader range of services and product offerings, The Prometheus Group, LLC. became Prometheus Global, Inc.
